Balavihar Annual Day – Devi Shakthi Mela!

As various volunteer groups in our center are getting ready for a spectacular Mela to celebrate all of us and especially the women and giles in our lives, here are a few activities that we want all of you to get involved in!!!

Art Competition – “Power of a Woman”

LEVELS:

Pre-K – Grade 1 – NON-COMPETITIVE (artwork will be displayed in the center on Annual Day)
Grades 2 – 4
Grades 5 – 8
Grades 9 – 12

RULES:

Only 1 entry per child
Any art medium (colored pencils, crayon, ink, watercolors, oil paint, pastels, charcoal, mixed media, etc.) may be used
Write your child’s full name, grade and parent email address on a separate sheet of paper and submit along with artwork
Artwork must be submitted to your child’s  Balavihar teachers by April 21st 2019, 1:00 pm

Essay Competition –  “What does Devi Shakthi mean?”

LEVELS:

Grades 5 – 8 (limit to approx. 750 words)
Grades 9 – 12 (limit to approx. 1000 words)

RULES:

Only 1 entry per child
Use of copyrighted material or any form of plagiarism is prohibited
Parents are asked to let children work independently on their essays
Entries can be typed (preferred) or handwritten
Please email a copy to Chitra Sundaram (cksub@yahoo.com) or submit hardcopy
Include the child’s full name, grade and parent’s email address only on the first page (and staple to the essay if submitting hardcopy)
Hardcopy submissions can be dropped in a box that will be set up in the lobby
Essays are due by April 21st, 2019, 1:00 PM!

Rangoli Competition – “Power of a Woman”

LEVELS:

Adults: One level for all entries

RULES:

Only 1 entry per person
Rangoli must be fit within 4ft x 4ft space (may be reduced to 3ftx3ft depending on number of participants)

Competition will take place at the Center on Annual Day, May 12th.
